Miracle
recovery A woman from North Staffordshire's baffled doctors by completely
recovering from a fatal lung disease. Sandra Barrow from Caverswall, near Blythe
Bridge developed a condition which stopped her body absorbing oxygen, after the
birth of her youngest child 6 years ago. But after losing seven stone, she's now
back to full health. Sandra, who travelled the world as a concert pianist, says
she was dangerously ill.
Uttoxeter redesign People in Uttoxeter
are being asked to design a new town logo. The town council's launched a competition
for residents to produce an official crest reflecting the tradition of the area.
The winning entry will be used on signs and letterheads. It's hoped it'll include
an image of the racecourse - or even the Samuel Johnson memorial. Uttoxeter's
Mayor, Geoffrey Morrison, says they're trying to avoid the usual heraldic element.

Toilets shut over drug problems The town centre toilets in Pepper Street,
Newcastle-under-Lyme will close because of problems with drug taking and anti-social

authorities say a skeleton found by hikers is that of high school teacher Mark
Buzec, 32, originally from Burton-on-Trent, Staffordshire, who went missing on

27th October Car smash on the A500 Two people have been
taken to hospital after a sports car crashed into an articulated trailer truck
in Stoke on Trent. It happened at around quarter past nine on the A500 near junction
sixteen of the M6. A woman passenger from the car was freed from the wreckage
and treated for serious head injuries by paramedics and an ambulance doctor. The
woman, and the driver, who was slightly hurt, were taken to University Hospital
North Staffordshire.
Yoxall
reward A reward of £5,000 is being offered for information leading to the
conviction of the people who desecrated an East Staffordshire grave. It's being
provided by Crimestoppers, more than three weeks after Gladys Hammond's remains
were taken from her coffin in the village of Yoxall.

accused over boy's wait Roger Thayne, the boss of Staffordshire Ambulance
Service has blamed the University Hospital of North Staffordshire after Luke Gallimore
- who was seriously ill - waited two hours to be taken 300 yards to intensive

revealed that a win of £80,467 from a ticket sold a month ago in Stafford

man helped animal activists Barry Saul Dickinson, a vehicle registration official
who looked up motorists' addresses for animal rights activists has been jailed.
He had enabled protesters to find people connected to a guinea pig farm in Yoxall,

Banger time The organisers of British Sausage
Week are announcing the West Midlands winners of the prestigious banger awards
tonight. The UK's sausage appreciation society is in Salt, near Stafford, to highlight
the best piece of meat in the region.

24th October Soldier
remembered The soldier dubbed Tamworth's forgotten hero will be given a memorial
plaque, one hundred and fifty years after he was involved in the 'Charge of the
Light Brigade'. Samuel Parkes was only the second British Army man to receive
the Victoria Cross from Queen Victoria following the Crimean War. Today a plaque
will be unveiled in the town to commemorate the way he saved the life of a regimental
trumpeter by slaying six Cossacks and helping many men escape the Valley of Death.

murdered pregnant girlfriend A policeman who killed his partner in a "savage"
attack on the day she was due to have an abortion, has been sentenced to life
in prison. Gary Walker, 40, was found guilty of murdering 36-year-old Audra Bancroft
in Burton-on-Trent, Staffordshire, while he was a serving officer in Bristol.
