Tolkien house for sale A Staffordshire house which was home to Lord of the Rings author JRR Tolkien is set to be auctioned off next month. Tolkien lived in on the Teddesley Park Estate, near Penkridge, just before the First World War.
The house is one property which Boot & Son will auction on November 15th.

Thursday 14th October
Radio awards BBC Radio Stoke was a double winner at this year's Gillard Awards. The 'Gillards' are awarded for creativity and inventiveness within the BBC's Local Radio output. The station won a bronze in the 'interactive' category, and gold in the 'diversity' category. See full story

Broadband coming People living in rural areas of Staffordshire are soon to benefit from five million pounds of government money, to provide them with better access to the world wide web.

The latest initiative by Advantage West Midlands should ensure everyone in Staffordshire has access to high speed internet broadband in the next 2 to 3 years.

Save the Prince Stars of the stage and screen,
Drag queen Danny La Rue and veteran comedian Ken Dodd, have made personal pleas to councillors thinking about axing Cannock's Prince Of Wales Centre. The council is considering axing the theatre to save £323,000 a year. Last Monday members of Cannock Chase District Council's Culture and Sport select committee voted unanimously to keep the theatre open. But the theatre is not safe yet as the proposals have to go in front of the cabinet and finally the full council on October 20th.

Angelic help People are being taught how to work with... angels. It's a ten week course overseen by Burton College - which includes meditation techniques, and ways of improving self-confidence. The course leader, Martine Angele Allard says many of her current students have seen improvements in their everyday life, by contacting angels and asking them to help out.

Saturday 9th October
Police comb desecrated grave site
Forensic teams are combing a churchyard at at St Peter's Church, Yoxall, where animal activists have been blamed for digging up a grave. See full story from BBC News

Faiths together Representatives from Burton's Christian, Islamic and Hindu communities launch a new interfaith network today - this is the first time a formal partnership's been launched in the town.

Woman flees home over sex leaflet A pensioner is forced to leave her home in Magdalen Road in Blurton, Stoke-on-Trent when leaflets saying a serious sex offender lives there are distributed in her area.
