Naked riders take tilt at record Alton Towers in Staffordshire hopes
to beat a world record for the number of people riding naked on a rollercoaster.

Weather affects visitor attractions A Staffordshire tourist attraction
says the recent bad
weather has forced it to put its admission prices up. The number of visitors
at Amerton Farm near Stafford is down 75% on last year and ticket costs
could increase by 50% as a result. Elsewhere in the county, indoor attractions
are reporting an increase in visitor numbers because of the rain.
However, last week, the number of people visiting Ceramica in Burslem was
double the amount that went there in 2003.
Brewer promotes sense Burton-based Coors Brewers says it's to be
the first major beer-maker to put a responsible drinking message on its
packaging. From the autumn, Carling Lager cans will feature the message:
"Enjoy Carling - Take It Easy." Chief executive Peter Kendall says the company
wants to take its social responsibilities seriously - but also acknowledges
there's huge government pressure on brewers to help tackle so-called binge
drinking, particularly among younger men. Cans will also carry information
about the number of alcohol units in each drink.
Post Office closes two branches Two Staffordshire post offices are
to close in Knutton and Hartshill, despite opposition from a pressure group.

Choirmaster jailed The former choirmaster at Lichfield Cathedral,
Jonathan Rees-Williams, has been jailed for five years for sexually assaulting
children and possessing indecent images on computers. Fifty-five year old
Jonathan Rees-Williams left his post at Lichfield Cathedral in 1991, going
on to serve the Queen for eleven years as choirmaster and organist at St
Georges Chapel in Windsor. But while working at Salisbury and Lichfield
cathedrals he'd exploited his position to carry out a string of indecent
assaults on young children, including attacking one victim in the organ
loft at Lichfield Cathedral. Sentencing him at Reading Crown Court today
the judge described his crimes as "deplorable and offensive to the public".

Guilty plea in granddad stabbing
A
Stoke-on-Trent man has admitted killing a 59 year-old grandfather at his
sheltered housing in Kidsgrove. At Stafford Crown Court 23 year-old Keith
Griffiths, from Crystal Street in Cobridge, pleaded guilty to the manslaughter
of Harold Bunn on December 30th last year.

Marmite - for strength! Burton-based Marmite is providing a local
flavour to the National Waterways festival this coming weekend. The company's
providing a large supply of its famous spread for workers, campers, caravanners
and boaters to put in their sandwiches. Up to 3000 people are expected to
attend the festival at Shobnall fields in Burton.
Tornado strikes An East Staffordshire woman says she was left shocked
after a mini tornado passed by her home last night. Delia Brough, who lives
at Lower Loxley near Uttoxeter, says it came as torrential rain battered
most of Staffordshire.
Meanwhile, homes
in North Staffordshire had to be evacuated and motorists were stranded after
severe flooding. 10 people were taken to a community centre in Chesterton
for the evening after their sheltered accomodation was flooded. 150 calls
came in for help in Staffordshire between 7.30 and 9.30 alone.
Arson school
reopens to teachers Teachers return to a school which was destroyed
in an arson attack two years ago, ready for the start of the new term. The
fire at Chase Terrace High School in Burntwood, Staffordshire, caused £15m-worth

man sexually assaulted Peter Smith from Burton-on-Trent has been found
guilty of sexually assaulting a friend who was having an epileptic fit after
a night out clubbing on Eastbourne Pier. See

in an East Staffordshire village every week for five years say they've no
intention of ending the campaign. Every Wednesday and Sunday the farm at
