after trouble ahead of England's first game in Euro 2004. Full

Fire at school may be arson Firefighters say they think a fire at
school in the Staffordshire Moorlands was started deliberately. Fire crews
from Biddulph and Burslem were called to Woodhouse School on Woodhouse Road
in Biddulph just before 0100 BST on Monday. An outbuilding had caught fire
and a fence was discovered alight at a nearby house. An investigation is
now under way.
Warn to lane-hogs Highways officials are considering the use of motorway
message boards to instruct drivers not to hog the middle lane. The proposal
was revealed in a parliamentary written answer from Roads Minister David
Jamieson to Lichfield MP Michael Fabricant, who blames poor lane discipline
for much of the congestion he encounters while driving between Staffordshire
and Westminster.
Mr Fabricant said: "Hogging the middle lane causes unnecessary congestion
and accidents."

Gang steal money from security van Police are appealing for information
after a robbery at a Stoke on Trent cash and carry. Four men stole money
from a security van at Bookers in Stoke about 1300 BST on Saturday. Police
say the offenders were driving in a white transit van but escaped in a blue
Mitsubishi. The van was later found dumped.
Honours for Staffordshire A number of Staffordshire people received
awards in the in the Queen's Birthday Honours.
An OBE went to - George Herbert Hamilton Bryan. For services to Tourism
in the West Midlands. (Tamworth, Staffordshire)
MBEs went to: Mrs Dorothy Godfrey for services to the community in Lichfield,
Staffordshire; Peter John Downs. Group Customer Service manager, West Midlands
Group Valuation Office Agency, Inland Revenue in Stoke on Trent; Mrs Joan
Levitt, for services to the community in Leek, Staffordshire; William Woodhouse
Madders from Stafford (council member, National Farmers Union) for services
to Dairy Farming. (Stafford, Staffordshire).
