has taken this on as a challenge - it is adapted from her machine knit pattern
as an attempt to write shorter instructions for hand knit patterns. Hope
you can follow it, any comments most welcome.
HAND KNIT 4PLY YARN. Needles 1pair 2 3/4mm (UK12 -USA 2) 1pair 3¼mm (UK10-USA
3)
BACK
Cast on 42sts, on No.12 needles and work in K1 P1 rib for 8 rows.
Change to No. 10 needles and st.st.(Stocking Stitch).
Knit to row 20, mark ends.
Knit to row 48. Cast off 11sts.at beginning of next 2 rows. Cast off remaining
20 sts.
FRONTS
Cast on 20sts, work as for back to row 20. Mark armhole edge and commence
Neck Shaping.
Decrease 1 st at Neck edge on next row and every following 3rd row, until
11 sts remain.
Knit to row 48. Cast off.
Do one then reverse all shaping’s and do the other
SLEEVES (Knit two)
Cast on 36sts on No 12 needles and work in K1 P1 rib for 8 rows.
Change to No.10 needles and Inc beg & end of every 6th row until 46sts.
Knit to row 34. Cast off fairly loosely.
BUTTONHOLE BAND
Join shoulder seams.
Cast on 7 sts, on No 12 needles and work in K1 P1 rib, working a small buttonhole
on 3rd and following 10th rows until 3 buttonholes have been worked ( Buttonhole
Row: Rib 3 yarn forward K2tog Rib to end.} Continue until band is long enough
to be placed around garment.
Finished Measurements (Approx.)
Chest : 11 ins. Length : 6 ins. Sleeves : 4.5 ins.
