S.O.S......SAVE OUR SUTH!
Sutherland arms
The Suth - scene of many rocked-out nights
Lolly is a big fan of the Sutherland Arms in Newcastle, best known as The Suth.

Foy years, it's been highlighting the best in rock.... but, as Lolly says, unless someone acts, it could be history.

Guide to Clubs & Pubs

Newcastle's most established Rock and Alternative venue is on the verge of closure.

The Sutherland Arms in Blackfriars Road has recently been purchased by developers with a view to demolishing the venue and building on the land.

Shutting - not yet
Unfortunately due to the negative publicity this action has generated, trade has halved; it seems people are assuming the venue has already shut down, or possibly believe it is being run-down in preparation. This is not the case.

The landlady, Mandie Colley, who still has four years left on her lease, is distraught.
Not only did the developers buy the building without her knowledge, they have also increased the rent considerably which could force her out of business.

Mandie and the longstanding and loyal staff of the Sutherland Arms are understandably incensed by these moves and have decided to fight back (and if you've ever seen the staff of the Suth, you will know that's quite a scary prospect!).

Fight-back
A petition has been drawn up and so far there are over 400 signatures on it.
This is not enough; we need more names and more money in the till, otherwise yet another rock/alternative venue bites the dust.

Please show your support, whether this is your 'scene' or not. The Sutherland Arms is an important part of Newcastle's history and big businesses should not be allowed to continually force the 'little man' out without a fight.

Support
We are recieving a vast amount of support from the Potteries Pub Preservation Society, the Sentinel Newspaper, many local landlords and hundreds of valued customers, but this doesn't mean your signature doesnt count.
By signing our petition and buying a pint,or several, you can combine a great night out with your good deed for the day.
Where else will you get an offer like that?

The Suth is open every night apart from Sunday from 10.30 until 1.00am; and 9pm until 2.00am on Friday and Saturday nights - where you will hear a mix of rock and alternative music right across the board, see some interesting sights and quite honestly, well, anything goes!!

If you've never experienced The Suth before, pay us a visit, while you still can, sign our petition and buy us a beer.
We'll be the ones tied to the bulldozers!
