Countryside officer Keith Morris waited 20 years before going back to university to complete his education.

Keith, 54, who works for Newcastle Countryside Project and lives in Hanley, opted to follow up his BA in biology and geography with an MSc in Habitat Creation and Management at Staffordshire University.

quote I was looking at the growth of trees on opencast land and did it on the country park at Apedale where I work. This may lead to better planting procedures and more natural planting quote
Keith Morris

Keith's employers Staffordshire County Council contributed towards the costs of the course. Now, he hopes to put what he's learnt to use in his job which involves teaching people about nature.

He also hopes to pave the way for other students to use Apedale for their studies.
