Stone Music Festival

Thousands of music fans flock every year to the Staffordshire town of Stone for a weekend in July for its annual Music Festival. Whether you like rock, pop, classical or jazz there's something to suit all musical tastes...

The town of Stone in Staffordshire is well known for its yearly Food and Drink festival, but is now gaining a decent reputation for its annual music festival as well.

Abba Gold

For instance...  in 2009, you were invited to get on your sparkly cat-suits, Travolta medallions and your platform heels to see one of Europe's biggest tribute bands - Abba Gold - headline the event.

The four-piece, who've performed more than 2 thousand gigs to 2 million people, will played the free festival finale on the open air stage in the Market Square.

As part of the show on the night, festival organisers invited you to dress up in your best seventies glad rags.

Classical to Rhythm and Blues

There are plenty of musical events of all  genres that go on over the 3 day festival.
There are performances from school choirs from Stone and surrounding area, and BBC Radio Stoke often broadcasts live from there.

In 2008 and 2009, there was also a successful busking competition, and (if you're into music BBC Stoke SUBCulture-style!), there's a full day of local unsigned bands at the ampitheatre on the Saturday.
