Stories from St Margaret Ward

Students from St Margaret Ward in Tunstall, Stoke on Trent, have been working with BBC Radio Stoke's Schools Co-Ordinator, Dave Hamer, to produce their own pieces for radio.

As part of a joint project between BBC Radio Stoke and Creative Partnerships, different schools from North Staffordshire had their chance to make stories for radio.

Students from St Margaret Ward in Tunstall, Stoke on Trent, produced the following pieces for broadcast on BBC Radio Stoke...

Barbary Macaque

Trentham Monkeys

St Margaret Ward pupil Kirsty is mad about monkeys - not the band, the animals!

She wants to find out if our troop of Barbary Macaques are happy in Stoke-On-Trent or whether they’d rather be sunning themselves back home in Africa...

Chloe loves her cat - Mog. She's always waiting for her when she comes home from school and, as long as there's a saucer of milk available, is always ready for a bit of a fuss.

But the St. Margaret Ward pupil knows that some people don't treat our furry friends with the care they deserve and wants to find out more...

Pony Tales

St Margaret Ward pupil Claire is not the first young lady to dream of having her own pony.

For her, the dream has come true – but it's slightly complicated because not every member of her family is a fan of horses...

Acting Seriously

St Margaret Ward pupil Beth is a keen actor but wants to find out how to make the giant leap from school production to the bright lights and glamour of the Theatre.

Who better to ask than a jobbing actor fresh from the stage at our very own Regent Theatre...

Gladstone Museum

Potteries Industry

Lucy is concerned that our local identity is slowly disappearing and soon there'll be no-one left who remembers it!

Her Gran used to work in the Pottery industry so a trip round Gladstone Pottery Museum was the perfect opportunity to find out what she thought too...

Odd laws in the UK

Witold has become obsessed with the more unusual aspects of our legal system.

It's amazing what a few hours on the internet can unearth and to Witold's amusement he's found out that many of us decent law-abiding folk might once have been considered criminals!

Indoor Climbing

St. Margaret Ward pupil Artur might not strike you as the intrepid type but he's a young man who knows no fear!
