Swingers: Have your say

Tell us your views on the secret sexual subculture that's happening closer to you than you might think.

All this week (04-08 June) on BBC Radio Stoke on the Stuart George show we've been hearing about 'swinging' and 'swingers'. That doesn't mean 'people who like their jazz' but those people who swap their partners with other like-minded couples.

You might think it's something that gets talked about but doesn't really happen, or that you'd have to go out of your way to find a swingers' club. And that's where you'd be wrong. It does go on and right here in Stoke-on-Trent.

Your views

What do you think about swinging? Does the idea of going out with the intention of swapping sexual partners fill you with horror? What does it say about the people who are swingers - free spirited liberal thinkers with a level of trust we should admire, or twisted perverts lacking moral fibre?

And you say Americans are uptight!!
What's disgusting is people in so called "faithful" relationships. The lack the moral fiber to have an honest relationship with their partner. Most swingers are well adjusted and you actually have a higher chance of getting an STD from a so called monogomous relationship (because one of you is more likely than not cheating)

Proud to be British
To be honest, most people are so horriby fat, dirty and unattractive that I wouldn't want to have anything to do with them, let alone see tham naked. Ughh! "easy going" and other supporters appear to have no respect for themselves or their wives/husbands or no morals. Perhaps a dose of a STD will cure them of this irrational fad.

Wanda
Actually i see nothing wrong with it to be honest, It is only sex and we are adults.

gluitter
I think its vile and disgusting

From the other side
Apart from any moral judgment--why would adding more to the mix enhance anything? Sex is the most intimate part of any relationship and as such is already highly charged emotionally, the more participants, the more problems. Healthy adults do not need swinging. Grow up and get real!

easy going
live and let live, if you dont like dont do, if you do do.

Andy
If it's done in private clubs like Atlantis then people shouldn't have a problem with it. I'd give it a go!

I agree with Sal. I have `swung` in the past and think that between consenting adults there`s nothing wrong with it. If you have a strong, stable relationship it can enhance it. We may be different from what is deemed `normal society` but at least we`re not attacking people or abusing children.

Rachel & Peter
If you haven't tried it, you really should. The prople are loveley and you don't have to do anything you don't want to. Pete & me have made lots of good, lasting friendships. Please don't knock it until you've tried it.

Sal
The Atlantis club atmosphere is fabulous and if anything it brings an additional intimacy and high between partners. Something which is often missing in everyday life. People should not be judgmental.
