ShortCuts

The AirSpace art collective in Stoke-on-Trent has been making an exciting contribution to the local arts scene since they were established. Now in their first group show we get to take a look at what the members get up to in the studios.

Opportunities to see contemporary art in Stoke-on-Trent seemed few and far between. That was until local artists decided to create a space to make and exhibit work in the city, by converting an old run-down pottery factory.

The AirSpace gallery has put on some exciting and diverse exhibitions since its launch in May 2006, showcasing the work of local and international artists.

Now it's the turn of the AirSpace artist members to show the work they've been creating in the studios that lurk below the gallery space.

Their first group exhibition entitled 'ShortCuts' explores a variety of themes and issues including memory, signs and symbols, desire and the mundane. All of the 10 artists work in very different ways and in a variety of media.

The exhibition brings together their practices and showcases a talented contemporary arts scene in Stoke-on-Trent.

Artists include; David Bethell, Andrew Branscombe, Vikki Brown, Richard Brammer, Berned Charnley, Brian Holdcroft, Katie May Shipley, Matt Roberts, Chris Simcox, and Yu Chen Wang.
