All in one Neck-down Cardigan

1 pair 3.25m needles (Old size 10)Less than 50 grams 4 ply baby woolContrast wool to make markers

AbreviationsPM Place marker  (loop of contrast wool)

Main Part

Cast on 58 stitchesWork 3 rows in K1 P1 rib**{{On the 4th and following 18th rows, make buttonholes on left or right, depending on whether cardi is wanted for boy or girl, till you have 4 buttonholes}}**Work 2 more rows in K1 P1 rib.

Place markers as follows

1.  MS 5, K9, Place marker,  K6 PM,  K18 PM,   K6 PM,  K9 MS 52.  MS  5, purl across (passing markers to other needle) to last 5, MS 53.  (Increase row) MS 5, knit across BUT increase in the stitches before and after each marker, to last 5, MS 5  {(to make increases without producing holes, knit into BACK then FRONT of each increase stitch)}  (64 sts)4.  MS 5, purl across to last 5 sts, MS 5

Repeat rows 3 and 4  (increasing 8 stitches every increase row) until you have 178 stitches arranged as follows..   29  // 36  // 48  //  36  //  29

First sleeve

Next Row, dividing for sleevesWith right side facingMS 5, Knit 96 , Turn and Purl 36 sts.Work 18 rows of stocking stitch on these 36 stitchesNext row, decrease 8 times evenly across row  (28 sts)Work 8 rows of rib, and cast off

Second sleeve

With right side facingRejoin yarn, and knit across back and sleeve stitches (84 sts)Turn and purl 36 stsWork 18 rows of stocking stitch for 2nd sleeve, and complete to match first.

Completing main body

With right side facingRejoin yarn, and knit across the 29 sts for frontNext row, purl across, keeping the Moss stitch bordersKeeping the 5st MS borders, work 18 rows stocking stitch (remembering button holes as before)

Next Row – decreasing for welt.MS 5, k2,  (K2tog K3) to last 5 sts, MS 5MS 5, purl across to last 5 sts, MS 5

Work 8 rows in K1 P1 rib, pacing 5th buttonhole half way down bottom rib.Cast off
