BBC Radio Stoke Sports

BBC Radio Stoke Sports brings you the best programmes and reports for local sport... Check here on this page for all the facts, details, personalities and contacts

You can hear Radio Stoke's sports programmes and match commentaries on 94.6FM, if you are in Staffordshire or Cheshire.
In Stafford, the best reception is on 104.1FM.
You can also listen to those programmes live, streamed here on your computer, by clicking the Listen Live button (see link on the right of this page).

You can also hear the two sports phone-in programmes for up to seven days here on your computer, even after their transmission, by clicking on the Listen Again button (see right of this page).

You can hear a weekly summary of our best sporting moments by clicking on 'Local Weekly Round-up'.

For an explanation as to why you can only hear our live Football League match commentary on the radio (and NOT on BBC websites), see bottom of this page.

Of course, all the latest news of your local sport, including football teams news, is also available on our sport pages, where you can hear audio of managers, updates and match reports.

Radio Stoke Sports Broadcasting

As well as full commentaries and coverage of local matches from Stoke, Vale and Crewe, on Saturday afternoons, we also have a regular sports show on Tuesday evening and Friday evening.
If matches occur on other days, Radio Stoke tries to make space in the schedules for commentary.

And you can join in the live debate too - with our three big phone-in sessions....
'Praise and Grumble' is on every Friday night 6-7pm and on Saturdays after the match (usually 5pm-6pm), on 94.6FM and 1503 MW on BBC Radio Stoke.
AND...   'Midweek Sport' is on Tuesday between 7pm and 9pm. If there is no match commentary, it's a phone-in show.
Call 01782 208008 during the shows if you want to comment instantly, or text your messages to 07786202946.
Call 01782 221215 and use the answerphone there if you want to leave a comment for the sports team to use later on in the shows. (International callers can use this service).
You can email too, to: sport.stoke@bbc.co.uk

Incidentally, if you miss either of our phone-in sessions, you can hear both shows on the internet for a whole seven days after transmission. It's available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week online - links are on the right of this webpage.

For radio coverage of Tamworth, please see details on our sister website, the BBC WM website.

Now - what about the sports team here?

Sports Editor Graham McGarry writes....

Well, I’ve been at the helm since 1994.

After overseeing my weekly duties at the sports-desk, I then head off at the weekends to provide coverage of Crewe Alexandra’s games both home and away. The highlight so far in my  broadcasting career was to produce and present the Crewe Alexandra play off triumph at Wembley in 1997.

My number two, assistant, first team coach, call him what you like, is John Acres. John’s arrival brought another dimension to the sports output, with his terrific style of presenting.

Nigel Johnson is the voice of Stoke City. He's followed them through the highs and lows over the last twenty years. Stoke legend Denis Smith is his expert.
At Port Vale, Matt Sandoz is the regular man in charge.
For non-league, Phil Cartwright is your man.
For online news, and press releases, Stephan Shemilt is in charge.

To contact any of us, simply e-mail....

BBC Radio Stoke is the first for sport - so stay tuned to stay in front!

Got a story for us?

The sports team is anxious to hear from you, wherever you are in Staffordshire.

We want to know about events but also about organisations and clubs too. And it's not just the major sports either.
So, whether you run a basketball team in Burton, organise trampolining sessions in Tamworth, have a croquet club in Cannock, or play lacrosse in Leek - get in touch by using the email link below!

Restrictions

NOTE: Sadly we are not allowed, by regulation, to stream on the internet for you Radio Stoke's match commentaries for any league match. (Though we can stream non-league).

However, the god news is that we are allowed to stream friendlies and FA Cup games live (in the UK only). You can hear the commentary of such games, in real-time, by clicking the Listen Live button (see right of this page).  If the Listen Live is not carrying the commentary, please check our homepage - www.bbc.co.uk/stoke - for any alterations.
