Inside Lives

All about 'Inside Lives'

The 'Inside Lives' project gave a lot of local people a chance to tell their story. Hundreds of people joined in this this exciting storytelling project...

BBC Radio Stoke's award winning community storytelling project Inside Lives took to the air in 2005/6.
During that time, many people came forward to take part in workshops - to write and then voice their own stories from their own lives.
All we did was hold the microphone.

People told of things that meant something. A momentous event in life, a passion to share, your work & business, a challenge you have overcome, an important encounter, a sporting triumph, a cherished memory, your faith and beliefs - anything goes. It could have been happy, sad, moving, funny or inspirational.

How To Tell A Story?

Some stories were 2 minute pieces, developed through small groups in storytelling circles, and recorded by an individual.
We also tried a number of new creative approaches to storytelling - working with individuals or groups, recording on location and in our studio in Hanley, as well as finding new ways of making the stories work online.

But, above all, the accounts were written in order to be heard, and they make wonderful listening.
