An exhibition at the Potteries Museum and Art Gallery is bringing some of the biggest names in British modern art to Stoke-on-Trent. The exhibition titled 'Sculpture / Object' looks at contemporary sculpture, focusing on work that transforms ordinary objects into unusual and often thought provoking art work. The exhibition runs until April 23 and features work by several members of the successful group known as the 'Young British Artists', including Turner Prize Nominee Anya Gallaccio, Gavin Turk, Nina Saunders and Richard Wentworth as well as Johnathan Callan and Hadrian Piggott. Some of the highlights of the exhibition include Richard Wentworth's 'Match' (1995) which consists of a ping pong table with broken crockery on top, and Gavin Turk's 'Bin Bag' which appears like a simple bin bag - but is actually cast in bronze and painted like a traditional sculpture! The Potteries Museum and Art Gallery is in Stoke-on-Trent city centre, on Bethesda Street in Hanley. The exhibition is open daily and entrance is free.
