Sport Relief has raised a phenomenal £29,323,818 following a jam-packed Sport Relief Night on the BBC.
The Sport Relief Challenges were well supported. The One Show presenter Christine Bleakley thanked people for donating a staggering £1,321,623 to her water ski feat across the English Channel. Former England rugby union captain Lawrence Dallaglio raised an incredible £926,167 for his Cycle Slam, the Million Pound Bike Ride team made a remarkable £1,337,099 and the man who started it all, Eddie Izzard, received £1,152,510 of donations.
Earlier, leader of the Million Pound Bike Ride David Walliams, introduced the BBC extravaganza in his inimitable tongue-in-cheek style surrounded by the children in India who he visited on his project.
From one popular figure to another, with Robbie Williams performing his first song of the night - Feel, before singing Morning Sun - the official Sport Relief song.
Other highlights of the night included The One Show spoof with crack impressionists John Culshaw and Debra Stephenson, the Smithy sketch at Sports Personality of the Year, an Outnumbered special, A Question of Sport exclusive, a Masterchef episode featuring the Match of the Day team and an Invictus sketch starring comedian Stephen K Amos and the England rugby union team - to name but a few. But among the entertainment was the real message of Sport Relief.
A poignant film featured Alan Shearer during his project trip to Kenya, when he visited two orphans who have been helped by Sport Relief money.
The former England striker and two-time Olympic gold medallist Dame Kelly Holmes made a quick dash to the airport in order to travel to South Africa for the special overseas Sport Relief Mile. Remember, there will be a special Sport Relief Mile show at 1605 GMT on BBC One on Sunday 21 March.
A record 26,000 people make a Big Splash to raise money for charity as part of the Swimathon weekend on 27-29 April.
