Dallaglio to cycle the Six Nations
Lawrence Dallaglio is set to ride 2,800km across Europe to raise £1m for Sport Relief and the Dallaglio Foundation
Rugby World Cup winner and former England captain, Lawrence Dallaglio, will embark on a gruelling cycle from Rome to Edinburgh during the Six Nations Championship to raise money for Sport Relief and the Dallaglio Foundation.
The Dallaglio Cycle Slam begins on Friday 12 February and will take place over the course of a month. It will see a team cycling from Rome and the Stadio Flaminio, through all of the Six Nations countries, taking in each of the international rugby stadia along the way.
The ride will end with team Dallaglio arriving in Murrayfield in time to watch England and Scotland fight it out over the Calcutta Cup on 13 March.
The aim is to raise £1m which will be split equally between Sport Relief and the newly formed Dallaglio Foundation, whose beneficiaries include Cancer Research, DebRA, Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research, Help for Heroes and the RPA Benevolent Fund.
Lawrence Dallaglio, founder of the Dallaglio Foundation said: "The Dallaglio Cycle Slam is going to be an exhausting ride, but I am thoroughly looking forward to the challenge and cycling with so many like-minded people."
"It will be an enormous feat, which is why we've set a fundraising target that will be shared between two fantastic charities – Sport Relief and my Dallaglio Foundation – at £1m so please go online and donate."
Dallaglio will be joined by over 250 other cyclists including a host of celebrities and sports stars such as Lee Dixon, Les Ferdinand, Josh Lewsey, Keith Wood and Kenny Logan, who will cycle a selection of stages along the way.
Look out for further coverage of the launch and the challenge here soon.
A record 26,000 people make a Big Splash to raise money for charity as part of the Swimathon weekend on 27-29 April.
