The ripples have been forming for a while, but get ready for a REALLY Big Splash on Sunday 15 May when the British Gas Great Salford Swim gets underway!

Some of the world's best open water swimmers will be in action at the unique course at Salford Quays.

The one mile open water contest will see over 2,000 competitors take to the water, from amateur swimmers to professionals.

World Champion Kerri-Anne Payne and Olympic medallists Cassie Patten and David Davies will take part, plus a host of famous faces from the world of sport and show business.

Matt Baker will joined by five-time Olympic gold medallist Ian Thorpe for live coverage of the event on BBC Two from 1400-1530 BST.

The Great Salford Swim is a brilliant challenge for swimmers of all abilities, from first-timers to Olympic champions - with last year's inaugural event attracting over 2,000 participants.
