After a brief sabbatical from play we welcome back Harryo. It is a testimony to the man that he has picked up where he left off; at the top of the table. Over to the man himself...
1. So, how does it feel to be Top Trader this week?
Following a 2 month break at the end of last year to visit Australia and New Zealand, I have been knocking on the door of TT fairly regularly for the past few weeks, so to have finally got to the top of the pile again this week is very satisfying.
2. TT and a tan. What more can you ask for? What was it that set you apart from the rest of the players this week and meant you got the silverware?
I could trot out the usual platitudes and bore the pants off everyone, so suffice to say and with apologies to my old mate Confucius,
"He who makes the least number of wrong decisions during the week will end up with the highest percentage on Tuesday morning".
What a load of old Tosh!!
3. You might wanna read Zen and the Art of 'Daq Account Maintenance. Your most important buy or sell this week?
I have an admission to make here. (A bit like coming out I suppose). A few weeks ago I made a decision to start using the feed information. On the Monday evening I had decided to Day Trade and play the Win Bonus on the Wednesday. BUT, you guys had changed your methods of calculating PD and by late Tuesday afternoon it was very apparent that Slap Butter was going to be the ultimate investment for dividend. So the answer to the question is :- Slap Butter.
In passing, I must congratulate all you hamsters for these innovative changes you are making to the game. Perhaps you could have a look at Win Bonus payouts next. Oh, and by the way, have any of you lot scampering around Hamster Towers heard the promo on 5live for digital radio and how you can listen to the sport on 5live extra. Just thinking aloud here you understand!
4. We're under a tight budget here. And the kids need new shoes! Arsenal will finish the season trophy-less. Should they sacrifice the beautiful game for winning?
As an Arsenal supporter, I sincerely hope that they carry on playing the way they have done for the past few seasons. Without doubt they are the one team in the premiership who will always be entertaining. The trouble is that it takes two to tango.
Other teams such as Chelsea and Man U are sometimes good to watch but most teams are just plain old boring. But then again it depends whether you are a committed supporter or just paying your £35 a month to watch from the sofa. It's one of life's conundrums.
5. To sit on row B or not to sit on row B, that is the question. England threw caution to the wind to beat France in the 6 Nations. Can we resuscitate our World Cup hopes through youth?
In this country we seem to have an obsession with youth. (Nothing wrong with having an obsession with youth, I might add) All too often class and experience is thrown out with the ageist bathwater. My Cat was arguably the best player on the park last Sunday but the performances of Shane Geraghty and Toby Flood show that there are very talented young players around. Brian Ashton just needs to get the balance right. Maybe bring back Martin Johnson. Win the World Cup? No. Not in a month of Sundays. Now a month of Saturdays, maybe.
6. Ok then how about another World Cup. The cricket one starts this week. Who is your money on?
India. Every time I see them play they exude an air of invincibility that has convinced me that they will go on and win the tournament. The Aussies had it until recently but if I were a betting man I would go with India. But then again, maybe Australia.
7. But then South Africa are a good side. And West Indies are on home soil. And England are a dark-horse... Do us fans get out from sport what we put in?
As I don't understand the question, may I rabbit on about something else. With your permission I would like to pay a little tribute to a Sportdaq Adversary who recently became only the second player to achieve Abramovich status. Well done Nij. You remain the class act in the field and the one to beat. (pity about City though)
Also, I'd like to thank Grey for all the stats he produces each week, Mini for all the techie help he has given me and PB for the ultimate solution to all techie problems, "Switch it off and switch it on again".
And finally, not forgetting, those unsung heroes, Jim and Kayt, whose contribution to the Talk Forum make playing this game so much more enjoyable.
8. Talk group hug! Finally, take the chance to talk about any sporting issue close to your heart. Try and keep it brief.
The amount of money washing around the top of the Premier League is rapidly destroying the very structure that created it in the first place. From now on the big four will contest the top four places each season ad infinitum. They will have the most money and be able to buy the best players and maintain the status quo. The sad thing is that the owners of the other clubs seem happy to accept the situation and take the money. In my opinion, the only method left to ensure long term stability of the league is to introduce a "salary cap" for all clubs. The idea of a player getting paid £7M a year to kick a football around is madness. Goodness knows how much money is pouring out of the game at the moment. Somebody, somewhere, sometime, will have to sort it out. But then again do turkeys vote for Christmas?
