Ligety takes gold in giant slalom

America's Ted Ligety wins the men's giant slalom, after his first run gave him nearly a second's advantage, pushing Austrian rival Marcel Hirscher into fourth.

Frenchmen Steve Missillier and Alexis Pinturault took silver and bronze respectively at the Rosa Khutor Alpine Centre.

Ligety becomes the first men's Olympic giant slalom champion from outside Europe.
