Glasgow 2014: Jemma Lowe wants Commonwealth podium

Jemma Lowe could become the first Welsh woman to win a swimming gold medal at the Commonwealth Games since Patricia Bevan in 1974

Welsh swimmer Jemma Lowe is targeting a podium finish at Glasgow 2014 following her gold at the International Swimming Championships in Manchester.

The 24-year-old won the 200m butterfly with a time of two minutes 10.89 seconds.

Following her win, Lowe revealed her personal target for Glasgow 2014 was to "get on the podium".

She added: "I got bronze at the last Commonwealth Games, so it will be good to do that, or do even better."

Lowe took silver in the 100m butterfly at the 2013 European Short Course Swimming Championships

Looking forward to the Games, which start on 23 July, she said: "It's really good to represent your country and be part of a special competition where all the athletes come together in a village.

"It's a really great experience."
