Jersey shooter Gareth Callan wins 500m world title

Callan has represented Great Britain for more than 20 years

Jersey's Gareth Callan won the gold medal in the 500m event at the Long Range Shooting World Championships.

Callan, who captains the Great Britain team, also took the bronze medal in the 600m event in South Africa.

The 47-year-old still has more medal chances to come, as part of the four-man mid-range team and at the 800m and 900m competitions.

Callan last year after success at the Muzzle-Loading World Championships in Germany.
