Walker delighted to break Fastnet record

Ian Walker, skipper of Volvo Ocean Race entry Abu Dhabi, says he is not going to get "carried away" after his 70-footer broke the monohull record for the Fastnet Race.

The yacht, Azzam, took one day 19 hours 39 minutes to cover the 608nm course from Cowes to the south coast of Ireland and back to Plymouth. Azzam beat Volvo Ocean Race rival Groupama 4 by just four minutes.

The boats were using the classic Fastnet Race as a tune-up for the Volvo Ocean Race which sets off from Alicante, Spain on 29 October sailing eastwards around the world.
