Hull KR chairman rules out play-offs after Wakefield loss
Hull KR chairman Neil Hudgell has said he does not expect the side to make the Super League play-offs after Sunday's defeat by Wakefield.
The Robins are now 10th, two points off eighth-placed Bradford Bulls with two games remaining.
"It's hard not to be disappointed. I think it's fair to say that we're out of the play-offs now," Hudgell told BBC Radio Humberside.
"It's been a difficult year for a number of reasons."
He added: "We've brought in a new coach who wanted to make his mark on the side, we've had injuries to key players and some unrest caused by agents."
Craig Sandercock's side have won just one of their last eight matches to fall away from the play-offs at a crucial point in the season.
They host league leaders Wigan in their next match in a fortnight before finishing at improving London on 8 August.
And Hudgell admitted that the club would need to reconsider its approach after an inconsistent season.
"We've spent the full salary cap this year. We need to be better than we are," he added.
"I think it needs a radical re-think and we need to put more emphasis on bringing through our own younger players and adding top signings to that.
"There's too much averageness in the playing group as a whole at the moment."
