Victoria Pendleton was tearful as she collected her gold medal at the London Velodrome

Victoria Pendleton collects her gold medal after capping a sensational evening for Great Britain in the London Velodrome with women's keirin gold.

The 31-year-old Briton, who retires after London 2012, can now add the inaugural Olympic keirin title to the sprint gold she won in Beijing in 2008.

Pendleton hit the front at the bell and held off a late charge from China's Guo Shuang, with Hong Kong's Wai Sze Lee a surprise bronze medallist.
