MotoGP: Michael Laverty 16th in French GP at Le Mans
Michael Laverty finished 16th in the French Grand Prix at Le Mans on Sunday to once again miss out on MotoGP points by just one place.
The Toomebridge rider, on board a Paul Bird Motorsport machine, has come in 16th in four out of the five races in the MotoGP series this season.
Laverty's team-mate Broc Parkes was two places further back in 18th.
MotoGP world champion Marc Marquez maintained his perfect record with a fifth straight win.
The 21-year-old Spaniard overcame a nightmare first lap to battle back from 10th and become the first rider since 1972 to win the first five races of the season.
Marquez emulated Italian Giacomo Agostini with the feat to take a 42-point championship lead.
Valentino Rossi came second with Alvaro Bautista of Spain third.
Laverty's other finish was 18th in Argentina last month so the Northern Ireland rider will be aiming for his first championship points in the Italian GP at Mugello in a fortnight.
