Fines for Monaghan and Kildare after brawl at Clones

Players got involved in a mass brawl just before half-time at Clones

Monaghan and Kildare have been fined following a brawl in Sunday's National Football League game at Clones.

It is believed both teams have been fined 5000 euro by the GAA's Central Competitions Control Committee (CCCC).

Fighting broke out at the whistle for half-time and there was jostling as the players went down the tunnel.

Kildare selector Niall Carew is banned for four weeks after being dismissed and red-carded Lilywhites player Brian Flanagan is suspended for one match.

Monaghan pair Dick Clerkin and Dessie Mone were booked by referee Joe McQuillan at the start of the second half.

The Farney side secured a 0-17 to 0-12 victory in the Division Two encounter.
