FT: Leeds United 0-0 Middlesbrough

So Middlesbrough have missed the chance to move to the top of the Championship. Just how important will this match be come the end of the season?

Leeds performed valiantly in the final stages and you have to say Steve Evans will be happy with a point, but it wasn't the most entertaining game, with few real chances on goal at either end of the pitch.

The action continues in the Championship, however. This Saturday we will have live coverage as Cardiff City take on Brighton & Hove Albion but for now, thank you for joining us.

FT: Leeds United 0-0 Middlesbrough

Leeds United midfielder Toumani Diagouraga told Sky Sports:

"We knew before the game that we are good enough to beat anyone in this league and I've been assured that when we are on it, we can beat anyone.

"I think we could have won it, we were the better team in the first half. They got into it in the second half but in the end we had a few chances and we were unlucky not to win.

"I've been here two or three weeks and I've seen how good the team is and hopefully we can win a few more games until the end of the season."

FT: Leeds United 0-0 Middlesbrough

Middlesbrough goalkeeper Dimi Konstantopoulos told Sky Sports:

"It is important if you can win the game, not to lose it. We had a battle in the end and it was a tricky game for a keeper.

"In the end I had to be focused but it's a point gained for us.

"Every team goes on a little blip but as long as we stay up there whilst we're having this run, I think we will be alright because we've got enough good quality and good players."

FULL-TIME

Leeds United 0-0 Middlesbrough

Middlesbrough's winless run continues. Aitor Karanka's side have now gone five games without a win and have missed the chance to leapfrog Hull City and go top of the Championship table.

It wasn't a showpiece of a match, but Leeds will feel unlucky not to steal a late winner through Souleymane Doukara just before full time.

SUBSTITUTION

Luke Murphy replaces Toumani Diagouraga for Leeds United.

Leeds United 0-0 Middlesbrough

Leeds are making their extra man count and they have almost sealed a dramatic late winner. Liam Bridcutt plays a superb ball on to Souleymane Doukara but Boro keeper Dimi Konstantopoulos pulls off yet another fantastic save.

SUBSTITUTION

Leeds United 0-0 Middlesbrough

Middlesbrough boss Aitor Karanka brings off Jordan Rhodes, who is jeered by the Leeds fans, and sends Tomas Kalas on as replacement.

A last throw of the dice? There's four minutes left for either side to find a winner.

RED CARD

Leeds United 0-0 Middlesbrough

Ben Gibson receives his second yellow card of the night and he's off after bringing Lee Erwin down in midfield.

Leeds United 0-0 Middlesbrough

What a chance for Leeds! Charlie Taylor lifts a speculative ball into the box and Souleymane Doukara does well to beat his man and head just wide of the mark.

Leeds United 0-0 Middlesbrough

Another chance for Boro, but Leeds are keeping them pegged back. Albert Adomah plays in Stewart Downing at the corner of the 18 yard box but his timid shot fails to trouble Marco Silvestri. Six minutes of normal time to go.

Leeds United 0-0 Middlesbrough

Albert Adomah launches a cross in to Jordan Rhodes who dives to head home but can't convert. Agonisingly close to what would surely have been a Boro winner.

SUBSTITUTION

Leeds United 0-0 Middlesbrough

Another change for Leeds as Mirco Antenucci is replaced by Lee Erwin.

Leeds United 0-0 Middlesbrough

Some good work in midfield by Leeds sees Alex Mowatt receive the ball but his shot is blocked and goes out for a corner, which is also cleared.

WHAT A SAVE! Dimi Konstantopoulous keeps it goalless with a pearler of a save. Leeds win a free kick in Boro's half which Charlie Taylor obligingly floats into the box and Souleymane Doukara nods goalbound but Dimi is on hand to palm away. Superb stuff!

At the other end, Jordan Rhodes strikes at goal but he fires straight at Silvestri.

SUBSTITUTION

Leeds United 0-0 Middlesbrough

This time it's Steve Evans' turn to make a chance. Alex Mowatt replaces Stuart Dallas

YELLOW CARD

Leeds United 0-0 Middlesbrough

SUBSTITUTION

Leeds United 0-0 Middlesbrough

Another chance for Boro. Jordan Rhodes somehow keeps the ball in play in the Leeds box, plays back to Stewart Downing who chips in to Christhian Stuani at the far post but the Uruguayan nods over the bar. That's the last touch of the ball for Stuani, who departs in favour of David Nugent whilst Gaston Ramirez is replaced by Albert Adomah.

Leeds United 0-0 Middlesbrough

Chance for Boro! Ritchie de Laet delivers a fantastic ball in to Christian Stuani who has all the time in the world to shoot, but somehow volleys into the ground and the ball bounces harmlessly over the post.

Calm down guys, I'm not used to this sort of excitement!

Leeds United 0-0 Middlesbrough

Souleymane Doukara runs down the wing and wins a corner for Leeds. The ball is played to Charlie Taylor who crosses into the box but, surprise surprise, Middlesbrough clear.

Fans of defensive clearances must be loving this..

Not the most encouraging news if you are a Leeds United fan. Although the hosts have arguably been the better side in a first half of few clear cut chances.

The second half is just moments away...

Elsewhere tonight...

There's not too much live football this evening, but if you are interested in goings on north of the border, Inverness Caledonian Thistle are currently holding second-placed Aberdeen 1-1 in the Scottish Premiership.

It's currently half-time in that game.

Aberdeen can go level on points with leaders Celtic with a win.

You can follow the action from that one here.

Leeds United 0-0 Middlesbrough

It's been a dull first half at Elland Road with few chances, but there's life in this one yet. Jordan Rhodes had the ball in the net for Boro but it was disallowed, whilst at the other end Ritchie de Laet almost gifted Leeds the game's opener with what would have been a superb volley...had it been at the other end.

All to play for in the second half. Can Middlesbrough turn around their inconsistent league form of late and go top of the Championship?

YELLOW CARD

Leeds United 0-0 Middlesbrough

Toumani Diagouraga is booked for bringing down Christhian Stuani by the halfway line.

Leeds United 0-0 Middlesbrough

Both sides look up for it tonight but they're lacking attacking threat in the box. Souleymane Doukara does well to win the ball again, but the hosts just can't penetrate in the final third.

Leeds United 0-0 Middlesbrough

I don't think I've ever seen Elland Road this empty, even when I did a stadium tour #bbcfootball

There are certainly plenty of blue seats on show. It's not the happiest fanbase at the moment, you'd have to say.

Leeds United 0-0 Middlesbrough

So close to an own goal! Ritchie de Laet almost volleys Charlie Taylor's corner into his own net, but fortunately for the Middlesbrough defender, the ball goes over the bar.Meanwhile, Souleymane Doukara shoots optimistically from 40 yards out, but it sails over the bar.

Leeds United 0-0 Middlesbrough

Some fine play between Souleymane Doukara and Toumani Diagouraga plays havoc with the Boro back line but they do well to clear before Mirco Antenucci sees his shot blocked.

Surely there will be a goal soon! Perhaps the hosts need some inspiration from this man...
