Hamilton accepts blame for poor result

Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton admits it was his own decision to abort his final qualifying lap after ending up sixth at Silverstone.

Hamilton was fastest with seconds remaining but erred in aborting his final lap and slipped down the field - the fourth race in a row in which he has made a mistake of one kind or another in qualifying.

His team-mate and championship leader Nico Rosberg took pole, with Hamilton needing to beat Rosberg in his home race to start closing the German's 29-point lead in the championship.
