York City 0-0 Wycombe Wanderers

York's search for a first win of the season continues after they were held at home by Wycombe Wanderers.

Nigel Worthington's side threatened through John McCombe, Luke Summerfield and Anthony Straker.

However, Wycombe had won three of their first four and had chances of their own through Paul Hayes and Steven Craig.

Both sides pressed late on in search of a winner but the closest either came was when Wycombe striker Hayes had a low effort blocked by Michael Ingham.

Wycombe manager Gareth Ainsworth told BBC Three Counties Radio:

Ainsworth on York v Wycombe

"It was a terrible game on a terible pitch - the wind up here is frightening and that's two years running now that it has had a massive impact on the game.

"We could have nicked it at the end, but I think 0-0 is a fair result, and a happy result for me.

"The pitch is awful. It's full of sand and so it's a good point for us away from home.

"We had two or three players under par, but we had six, seven or eight really on form and ready to stand up against anything."
