Preston North End midfielder Alan Browne has signed a new two-year contract with the League One club.

The 19-year-old made nine appearances for Simon Grayson's side after joining from Irish club Cork City in January.

"The past six months have gone brilliantly for me and hopefully I can kick on," Browne told the club website.

"Getting in to the team towards the end of the season and getting to play in the play-offs - the manager has shown massive belief in me."

Browne had 12 months remaining on his existing contract, but will now remain at Deepdale until the end of the 2015-16 season.
