Braintree Town 1-0 Dartford

Braintree Town moved to within a point of the Conference Premier play-off places as a first-half Kenny Davis goal was enough to beat struggling Dartford.

Davis scored midway through the first period with a fine 18-yard shot and the Iron should have added to the lead against relegation-threatened visitors.

Darts goalkeeper Alan Julian made numerous fine saves, notably from Sean Marks, Chez Isaac and Dean Wells.

Dartford stay in 22nd place but are two now points from safety.

They twice went close through Lee Noble when the score was 0-0.

But Davis scored soon after Noble's second chance and the hosts were full value for their victory.

Darford manager Tony Burman told BBC Radio Kent:

Post-match: Dartford boss Burman

"I think all the players have done a decent job. Obviously we've created chances - not loads of chances, but I don't think they've created many chances in fairness.

"You get opportunities like we did at the end and unfortunately we haven't taken it and that was our lifeline in all fairness.

"I don't think there was nerves. I just think every game we've started since November they've been under pressure and it's been every game we have to win.

"I think they've had a go again today but were unlucky again today. I think they deserved to get a point out of the game."
