Arbroath 2-1 East Fife

Arbroath gave their chances of avoiding relegation a boost with a narrow win over nearest rivals East Fife.

The visitors raced into an early lead when Liam Buchanan took full advantage of a quick Stephen Hughes free-kick.

The Smokies hit back quickly when Michael Travis tapped home easily to send the teams in level at the break.

The comeback was complete 13 minutes from time when Paul McManus grabbed his third goal in four games to move Arbroath within a point of safety.
