Liverpool Ladies: Lucy Staniforth suffers second cruciate injury
Liverpool Ladies midfielder Lucy Staniforth faces a long lay-off after damaging a cruciate knee ligament.
The 21-year-old, who joined from Bristol Academy in January, suffered the injury in training on Tuesday.
She injured her other anterior cruciate ligament in last year's FA Women's Cup Final, missing the rest of the season.
"We are absolutely devastated for Lucy. She is likely to miss the majority, if not all, of the upcoming season," boss Matt Beard told the club website.
"She remains a key part of my plans for the future and I have no doubt that she will return a better and stronger player."
