Wycombe Wanderers 0-1 Portsmouth
Ryan Taylor's second-half penalty saw Portsmouth earn a vital victory over fellow League Two strugglers Wycombe.
Pompey were indebted to keeper Trevor Carson, who twice brilliantly denied Matt McClure either side of a save from Reece Styche's close-range effort.
Shortly after the restart, Wes Fogden was tripped by Gary Doherty in the box and Taylor converted the spot kick.
Wycombe pressed for a leveller with Fogden clearing off the line while Doherty had a late goal disallowed.
VIEW FROM THE DRESSING ROOM
Wycombe manager Gareth Ainsworth told BBC Three Counties Radio:
"I know people are going to get sick of me saying that we've performed superbly, but I thought tonight we were really, really good.
"The only thing we didn't do was stick it into the back of the net.
"Portsmouth had one shot on target and that was their penalty, It was the softest penaslty I've ever seen.
"Not one Portsmouth player appealed for that penalty. But if we keep playing like that we'll be fine."
Portsmouth manager Richie Barker speaks to BBC Radio Solent:
"Another clean sheet and obviously an important three points.
"A little bit of luck (was key to the win). We've not had any since I came but I think at times you buy your own luck and you earn your own luck and the ability to throw themselves in the way and defend the way the did.
"The penalty - was it? I don't know - but again we've not had a great deal of luck so we've had a bit of that but I think they've made it themselves.
On keeper Trevor Carson: "He pulled off one very good save and he was safe for us, he's certainly put himself back into the fact that he plays a part in what we're doing."
