goal

Crewe Alexandra are without on-loan Manchester City midfielder George Evans, who serves a one-game suspension after his fifth booking in 11 games.

Brad Inman and Anthony Grant, the pair dropped for a bad attitude, may start a game together for the first time since mid-November, while Mathias Pogba is in line for a first start of the season.

Carlisle could be unchanged as they bid for a first away win since October.

But midfielder Paul Thirlwell and striker Lee Miller both hope to return.

While the Cumbrians chase back-to-back league wins for the first time since September to inch further away from trouble, Saturday's 2-1 win at Colchester lifted the Alex back off the bottom of League One - and to within two points of safety.

VIEW FROM THE TRAINING GROUND

Crewe boss Steve Davis told BBC Radio Stoke:

"We have to start getting results. And it was vital that we got something from the game at Colchester after losing at Wolves on Boxing Day.

"It is great for the confidence. Now we can't wait for the Carlisle game.

"It is amazing what a result can do and this has to be a turning point for us.

"Tom Hitchcock has been terrific for us. He has scored three goals in four games and you cannot ask for more than that."
