Salisbury City 1-1 Southport

Southport ended their six-match losing run as they held Salisbury to a draw in the Conference Premier.

Visiting keeper Danny Hurst parried Ricky Wellard's low 25-yard drive and saved Dan Fitchett's penalty after Matt Flynn had hauled down Stuart Sinclair.

Danny Hattersley headed in Jamie Milligan's corner to give Southport the lead in the 64th minute.

But Salisbury were behind for only eight minutes as Ryan Brett steered in Wellard's corner from close range.

Post-match: Salisbury's Ryan Brett

"We dug in. It was a little bit disappointing to concede but we got a point and we can start a run now.

"It was just one of those days where you have all the possession, all the shots and it wasn't going in.

"On another day we'd get five or six (goals).

"We've got a point. It's a little building block and we'll kick on now."
