Walsall closed the gap on the League One play-off places with a home victory over 10-man Carlisle.

Romaine Sawyers shot the Saddlers ahead from Paul Downing's through ball.

Carlisle were awarded a penalty when Andy Taylor handballed but Lee Miller saw his kick saved by Richard O'Donnell and fired the rebound over the bar.

Milan Lalkovic doubled the hosts' lead with a turn and shot before Carlisle's Courtney Meppen-Walter was sent off for pulling back Troy Hewitt.
