Torquay United 1-0 Southend United
Bottom-side Torquay ended third-placed Southend's seven-match unbeaten run thanks to a goal from John Marquis.
Marquis, on loan from Millwall, grabbed the winner on 50 minutes after being played in by a Billy Bodin lob.
Torquay nearly doubled their lead twice within a minute as Southend cleared a goalmouth scramble off the line and Jak McCourt hit the bar with a cross.
The Gulls stay bottom of League Two but move level on points with Northampton, while the Shrimpers drop to seventh.

Southend United manager Phil Brown told BBC Essex:
"It was an unrecognisable team performance. To a man you can't say that anybody individually played well, so collectively you are not going to [win].
"We didn't play any football, we tended to go route one, maybe because of the conditions, but these are going to worse over the next couple of months.
"It's all about bottle and pressure and we just didn't handle the conditions, didn't handle the opposition, didn't handle the ball. Consequently we got what we deserved. Absolutely nothing.
"If we can't handle being in play-off situations, if we can't handle being in automatic spots, then now's the time to get out. I know what my ambition is and what the football club's ambition is. The players have got to step up to that ambition."
