Barnsley 0-0 Doncaster Rovers
Doncaster goalkeeper Ross Turnbull saved a penalty as Rovers claimed a hard-fought point against fellow Championship strugglers Barnsley.
The Tykes dominated the game at Oakwell and were awarded a penalty when Bongani Khumalo brought down Marcus Pedersen.
But Barnsley's Chris O'Grady saw his spot-kick saved by Turnbull as the draw left the Tykes in the relegation zone.
However, Barnsley kept their first clean sheet of the season having leaked 31 goals in their previous 14 matches.
The home side looked the most likely to score with O'Grady and David Perkins all going close.
Doncaster were watched from the stands by John Ryan, who is understood to have resigned as chairman an hour before kick-off.
But the visitors improved little after the break as Barnsley offered the greater threat in the final third.
Barnsley's Paddy McCourt fizzed an attempt from distance wide of the goal, while substitute Jason Scotland hit the side netting and O'Grady headed a late chance wide.
Barnsley manager David Flitcroft: "We definitely wanted three points today but we didn't work their keeper enough.
"In the first half we should have come in three up and we had more chances in the second half.
"It was something you don't see often, O'Grady missing a penalty."
Doncaster manager Paul Dickov: "We put on a good defensive display with an inexperienced back-four.
"I can't argue about the penalty in the first half, but what I can argue about is that we should have been given one when Chris Brown went down.
"The thing that disappoints me is that we didn't work the ball around when we won it."
