Gault inflicts penalty pain on Glens

Linfield held their nerve in the penalty shoot-out to edge out Glentoran in the League Cup tie at the Oval.

Former Glentoran striker Andrew Waterworth hit the post with his effort, but otherwise the Blues had an unblemished record from the spot, with skipper Michael Gault scoring the winning penalty.

Linfield won 4-2 on penalties after the game had finished scoreless after extra-time, with Glentoran's Mark Clarke sent off in the second half of normal time.
