CAS hear Dundee Utd's appeal against Casalinuovo compensation

Dundee United have had their appeal heard regarding a compensation order of 230,000 euro for the signing of Damian Casalinuovo.

The Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne considered United's case and is not expected to issue a judgement for some weeks.

Argentine club Vélez Sarsfield claim that they are due a fee in compensation for developing the player.

But Dundee United claim he was a free agent when they signed him in 2009.

, the striker's first club. The figure has already been reduced from 400,000 euro by a Fifa tribunal.

"We have had a fair and full hearing in the matter this morning," said Dundee United chairman Stephen Thompson on Thursday.

"We won't know the result for some weeks until after the court's deliberations."

Casalinuovo made 25 appearances for the Tangerines and later played for Hamilton and then Raith Rovers.
