Shearer helped by Robson influence

Former England and Newcastle United striker Alan Shearer praises the influence Sir Bobby Robson had on his football career.

Before the former England manager joined the Magpies in 1999, Shearer had fallen out with then-boss Ruud Gullit after being dropped from the Tyne-Wear derby, and admits he could have left the club had Robson not taken over.

This Saturday the Football Association celebrates Sir Bobby Robson National Football Day, which is part of their 150th anniversary celebrations.
