Dag and Red 2-0 York

Goals in either half from Rhys Murphy and Brian Woodall gave Dagenham a hard-fought 2-0 win over York City.

Murphy raced onto Woodall's pass before rounding goalkeeper Michael Ingham to tap home but York could easily have been ahead, Richard Cresswell twice seeing headers cleared off the line.

After the break Michael Coulson nearly levelled but his shot deflected wide.

York were made to pay when Woodall controlled a cross-field pass from Femi Ilesanmi and poked beyond Ingham.

Post match: York boss Worthington

"I was very pleased with the performance, we competed well.

"I think we played some good football, particularly in the first half and were on top for quite a bit of the game but those goals never come at the right time.

"Overall, there was a lot of good stuff and we just need to keep the ball in the box a bit more, it's coming out far too easily.

"We're disappointed we lost the game 2-0 but if we keep doing so many right things we'll get our just rewards."
