Sir Alex Ferguson will retire

Sir Alex Ferguson will step down as Manchester United manager at the end of the season after 26 years in charge.

The 71-year-old is the most successful manager in British football history having won 38 trophies including 13 Premier Leagues, five FA Cups and two European Champions Leagues.

BBC Sport's Dan Roan explains that bookmakers made Everton manager David Moyes odds-on favourite to take over at Old Trafford last night.
