Forest Green 0-1 Southport

Southport

Southport eased their relegation worries as Chris Stokes' own goal gave them victory at faltering Forest Green.

Rovers, who have missed out on the play-offs on the back of a run of four games without a win, enjoyed the better of the first half.

But the Sandgrounders, who had won one of their last 10, stole the points when Stokes headed Karl Ledsham's cross into his own net.

The victory leaves Southport five points clear of danger.

VIEWS FROM THE DRESSING ROOM

Forest Green manager Dave Hockaday tells BBC Radio Gloucestershire:

"I know we can't make the play-offs now so we had a look at players that we need to have a look at. We were a little bit tight numbers wise.

Forest Green lacked belief - Hockaday

"It's frustrating as we've become the victims of our own success if you like. We passed and passed but now we've actually lost the point that the idea is to put the ball in the back of the net.

"The game gave me a chance to look at some people, and obviously I've got to decide now whether we keep those people or we look for others.

"I thought the fans were brilliant today and I think they know we're now looking at people and trying a few things but at the end of the day I want to win every game."
