Leyton Orient 4-1 Carlisle

Leyton Orient kept their League One play-off hopes alive with a comfortable victory over 10-man Carlisle United.

Romain Vincelot opened the scoring by firing in Dean Cox's cross and Shaun Batt stabbed home before the break.

Carlisle keeper Mark Gillespie was booked for handling outside the area and was then sent off when he brought down Charlie MacDonald in the box.

Kevin Lisbie scored the resultant penalty and, after Matty Robson had pulled a goal back, Cox volleyed home.

The O's are now three points off the play-offs but have played two games in hand on fifth-placed Swindon and sixth-placed Yeovil.

Carlisle, meanwhile, lie nine points above the bottom four.

Perfect week for Orient - Slade

"It's been a perfect week for us. We have to be really pleased with that and three straight wins is fantastic.

"We are a bit patched up again, but it's important they all get some pitch time. Dean Cox has got a goal which is a positive.

"We are Leyton Orient, so every game is difficult and there are none more so than Preston away who we have next."

Carlisle United manager Greg Abbott told BBC Radio Cumbria:

Abbott vows to battle on at Carlisle

"Key things happen in games that kill you. There's not many teams that will come here and give two goals away and come back from it.

"There's no easy way out of it. You have to go with the rough and the smooth and over the last 120 years I'd imagine Carlisle has had some really tough times.

"Over the last five or six years we've had some really decent times. Carlisle fans stick together.

"I've never walked away from anything in my life, I've never walked away from a challenge.

"A performance like that isn't good enough, isn't acceptable for me of for the players and we all have to take that on the chin."
