Benitez brushes off job speculation

Chelsea boss Rafael Benitez says newspapers have to "create stories" speculating about his future at Stamford Bridge because journalists "have no contact" with the club's owner.

Newspaper reports before the match had suggested Benitez would be sacked if Chelsea failed to beat Wigan, but the Blues recorded a 4-1 home win over the struggling Latics, with goals from Ramires, Eden Hazard, Marko Marin, and Frank Lampard.

Lampard's strike was 198th goal for the Chelsea, putting him just four goals behind Bobby Tambling's club record of 202.
