McDermott 'gutted' after late defeat

Reading boss Brian McDermott is "gutted" for his players after a Gareth Barry goal in injury-time gave Manchester City a 1-0 over the Royals at the Etihad Stadium.

Barry headed home a David Silva cross, but McDermott says the goals should not have been allowed to stand, claiming Barry had fouled Nicky Shorey.

McDermott refuses to blame his players for the defeat, and insists the team will fight to preserve their Premier League status, despite managing just nine points from 18 matches.
