Burnley 1-1 Blackburn

Blackburn boss Henning Berg

A dramatic late Sam Vokes goal rescued a draw for Burnley against East Lancashire rivals Blackburn.

Burnley dominated the first half and Ross Wallace, Charlie Austin and Martin Paterson were each denied by Rovers keeper Paul Robinson.

The home side were then punished for not taking their chances when striker Jordan Rhodes scored with a diving header from a Mauro Formica cross.

But, just as Rovers closed in on the win, Vokes headed in the equaliser.

Substitute Vokes glanced home from a free-kick after 89 minutes and the Clarets will feel it is no more than they deserved.

Blackburn boss Henning Berg now has only one win from seven games since his appointment.

Burnley had gained the upper hand after a scrappy start and striker Charlie Austin controlled a driven Kieran Trippier cross before having his strike crucially blocked by Rovers centre-back Scott Dann.

Blackburn were struggling to cope with the pressure and it was only keeper Robinson who stopped them going behind.

The former England man parried a Ross Wallace shot and also superbly palmed away a header from Austin.

Robinson also tipped a curling effort from Martin Paterson around the post.

The visitors improved after the break and Rhodes scored his 13th league goal of the season when he headed in after 68 minutes.

Blackburn appeared set to close out the win but Burnley earned a point when Vokes headed low into the corner.
